The Iron Springs Chateau is gearing up for its new spring melodrama Danger Ranger Granger – A Bigfoot Tale

Manitou Springs
28 February 2013

Boo the villain and cheer the hero, on March 15, 2013 when the Iron Springs Chateau Dinner Theater at 444 Ruxton Avenue in Manitou Springs, Colorado opens its 53rd Melodrama Season with “Danger Ranger Granger” by Vicki Kelly and Bruce Littrell.  Coined an “environmental” melodrama, this hilarious show addresses the ever-present issues of open space and protecting our wildlife.  Set in a mountainous Colorado forest that is home to a lone bigfoot named Harry, forest ranger Roger Granger struggles against conniving, self-serving Senator Al Avarice, to save his beloved Craggy Mountain Forest from over-development and destruction. The production is directed by Robert Kelly with musical direction by Bruce Littrell and piano accompaniment/musical direction by Tim Zahn and Jana Ross.  The cast includes: Daisya Dowen, Roger Claman, Anthony Guerra, Shannon Urban, and Thomas Runyen.

Following the melodrama is a fun-filled sing-a-long intermission that gives the audience an opportunity to warm-up their vocal cords on some old standards, celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, or just take a break.

Then the cast returns to perform the all new “Ragtime Olio”, with a nostalgic visit to the turn of the 20th century in music, dance, and comedy.  As always, audience participation adds to the mix of this entertaining show that has something for all ages.  Musical direction is by Bruce Littrell, Jana Ross, and Tim Zahn with choreography by Vicki Kelly and Daisya Dowen.  Costumes are by Vicki Kelly, Leah Montgomery, Heather White, and Pat Claman.  Backstage tech is by Steve Braun.

Accompanying the production is the Chateau’s new three course meal with garden salad, choice of oven roasted chicken or old-fashioned pot roast, real mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, seasoned rice and cobbler for dessert.  Dinner arrival is between 6:00 PM and 6:45 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM.  Dinner and show is: $16.50 to $29.50 per person; show only is $9.50 to $15.50.  Special rates are available for groups over 10.  Call the Chateau at (719) 685-5104/(719) 685-5572 or email at info@ironspringschateau.com to make reservations.
